TGA Thermal Weight Loss Analysis of Mica Gaskets

🔥 TGA Thermal Weight Loss Analysis of Mica Gaskets

At CeramXpert, we use thermal analysis to evaluate the high-temperature stability of ceramic and inorganic materials for demanding industrial applications.
In this test, a mica gasket sample was placed in an alumina crucible and analyzed under a high-purity nitrogen atmosphere.

The sample was heated from room temperature to 800°C at 10°C/min, while continuously monitoring its weight change.

📊 Key Results:
• Temperature range: 51.33–800.03°C
• Total weight loss: 4.54%
• Main weight loss: removal of adsorbed and crystal water
• No significant decomposition observed up to 800°C
• The main material structure remained relatively stable at high temperatures

These results indicate that the tested mica gasket demonstrates excellent thermal stability, making TGA a valuable method for evaluating inorganic sealing and insulation materials used in high-temperature environments.

🔬 Why TGA matters:
Thermogravimetric analysis can detect small mass changes during heating, helping engineers and researchers understand material behavior, determine suitable operating conditions, and support material selection, quality control, and high-temperature application development.

At CeramXpert, we support laboratories and industrial customers with thermal analysis consumables and advanced ceramic components for materials research, Ramp;D, and high-temperature applications.
